“Edible Trash” is an artwork that merges the worlds of metalworking and confectionery to create a piece that focuses on environmental awareness. At the center of this piece is a welded metal trash bin, crafted to mirror the shape and appearance of a traditional garbage bin. However, instead of holding actual trash, the container is filled with molded chocolate pieces representing discarded items. The chocolate pieces are crafted to resemble things often discarded, such as candy wrappers, soda cans, and plastic bags.
EDIBLE TRASH
The juxtaposition of the sturdy metal bin and the edible chocolate pieces creates a visual statement. Edible Trash challenges viewers to consider their waste habits and the impact they have on the environment. It promotes the idea that we should all be more cautious and mindful of our actions and their impact on the world. Through this artwork, I aim to achieve conversations about the importance of sustainability and taking care of our environment. Edible Trash reminds us that every action we take has a consequence and that we all have a responsibility to do our part in protecting our planet.
